Florence Cheng: "Over the years, many people and incidents came across my life, some are great but some are disastrous. I have been undergoing wonderful time and tough time, for that the most important concern is still the people, no matter who they are, my love and care for them remains the same. Especially under such negative social atmosphere in Hong Kong, it is time to reflect and get a step forward.
I always admire the French, of their courage and artistry in expressing themselves, while they keep reflecting the inner self and the connection with the world. Liberté and Inégrité are always been their motto, after trembles of social-political upheaval for centuries.
This concert features Daniel-Lesur’s Le Cantique des Cantiques for twelve-part unaccompanied choir, in juxtaposition to its Renaissance origins, unaccompanied choral music by Guillaume Dufay, Orlando de Lassus, Claude le Jeune, and other French Renaissance composers, as well as selections of love poems from Song of Songs and French chansons.
