Concert for Milan with Filarmonica della Scala

SigmArt is delighted to present the Concert for Milan in partnership with RAI from the Scenic Cathedral Square on the 5th of June 2025 at 21.30 CET (20.30 BST), available On Demand on SigmArt.

This Concert is the annual celebration of the city of Milan, held by the prestigious Orchestra "Filarmonica della Scala" conducted by one of the most recognized Italian Music Conductor Riccardo Chailly, accompanied by Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a world-renowned violinist, who has since last year settled in Milan at the helm of the Verdi Orchestra.

It is the mutual attraction between symphonic music and great cinema that hosts the evening's program. Emmanuel Tjeknavorian is solo violin for the suite from the ballet Le boeuf sur le Toit Op. 58 by Darius Milhaud, a triumph of carnival rhythms and colors on popular Brazilian themes, which has “Cinematic fantasy on South American motifs” in the subtitle and that Milhaud would have wanted as the soundtrack of a Charlie Chaplin film.

After the extraordinary concert in December 2022, Filarmonica returns to John Williams, with music from Schindler's List, Indiana Jones ed. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. Who represents a piece of world musical and cinematographic history is certainly Nino Rota, whose suite and a selection of danceables from Il Gattopardo by Luchino Visconti will be performed. The concert opens with the creative energy of Lollapalooza by John Adams, musical fun based on the word that gives the title to the track: “phenomenal, extraordinary thing” in American slang.
