Music:
Antonio Vivaldi: The Four Seasons
Astor Piazzolla: The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires
The concert "The Eight Seasons" by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Henning Kraggerud, featured performances of Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Piazzolla's Four Seasons. The concert took place on May 16 and 17, 2014, at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. The program included beautiful Italian sonnets possibly written by Vivaldi himself, which Henning Kraggerud read in English translation before each section of Vivaldi's work. Piazzolla's compositions were inspired by the Argentine capital, its sultry weather, and tango rhythms. The concert was a celebration of two masterpieces that established a sparkling dialogue between the two works.
Direction: Henning Kraggerud (Violin & Conductor)
