FILMS ARE MUSICALS, the film concert of the luminaries of the genre is a musical event that combines virtuoso performance of artists to a kaleidoscope of shots from favorite films, which will give vivid unforgettable emotions and bright memories.
The concert program includes a rare combination of popular works - a retrospective of the genre from the first musical film through a rock opera to a modern musical. Cinematography acquired an unprecedented depth of meaning when music came to the title role. Silent cinema was helped by piano accompaniment, then composers, the founders of operetta, joined in - as a result, a separate genre of musical cinema appeared.
In Russia, the musical entered the frame thanks to the Soviet film director Grigory Alexandrov. The musical film "Merry Fellows" was the debut not only for Lyubov Orlova and Leonid Utesov, but also for the composer Isaac Dunaevsky, who later created the musical canvas for the musical films "Circus", "Spring", "Kuban Cossacks".
Musical films occupy a special place: they penetrate the soul of the viewer and remain in it a melody that is always easy to sing. The successors of the traditions of musical cinema and the luminaries of the genre can rightfully be considered: Alexander Zatsepin with his musical film "June 31"; Eduard Artemiev, who created music for 250 films; Alexei Rybnikov, who wrote the legendary Russian rock opera "Juno and Avos"; Maxim Dunaevsky, composer of modern musicals, in particular, "Mary Poppins, goodbye!" and "Scarlet Sails".
The soloists of the concert are leading actors of the musical theater, laureates of international and all-Russian competitions:
