François Thuillier, an incredible tubist and member of many groups, had a dream: to recreate the Marc Steckar Tubapack who, in the 1980s, brought to light this instrument usually relegated to the back of the orchestra: the tuba!
This is also an offshoot of the Mega Tuba Orchestra, created in 2002 at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d'Amiens by François Thuillier, tuba teacher, and composed mainly of students of the latter.
The re-creation of the Elephant Tuba Horde was probably the best way to do justice to an instrument, to pay tribute to the creator of the original formation. For this jazz-leaning concert, it is the tuba, the improbable tuba of yesteryear, of which it has now become a solo instrument in its own right. No more curiosity and gimmicks, make way for creation and real musical expression!
Between original compositions and arrangements revised especially for the band, the Elephant Tuba Horde seduces, astonishes, and cannot leave you indifferent. It's sometimes muscular, sometimes mellow, full of humor and always brilliant... anything goes!
Cast: Francois Thuillier (Tuba), Jonas Real (Tuba), Anthony Caillet (Euphonium), Tom Caudelle (Saxhorn), Jean Daufresne (Saxhorn), Camille Geoffroy (Saxhorn), Julien Paris (Drums)
